Cyber-aware colleagues as an extra layer of security at Belnet

Paragraphes
Another highlight of Belnet’s 2024 was the roll-out of several internal cybersecurity awareness campaigns. Robust technical security measures are essential, but we firmly believe that people are the most important link when it comes to information security. A single careless click or download can have major consequences.

That’s why our core message is: we need to raise awareness — and keep awareness high — among our own staff. One way we do this is through a dedicated Cybersecurity Onboarding Course, giving new colleagues the most important security lessons in an engaging and interactive format.

During four interactive Lunch & Learn sessions, our colleagues explored topics such as ethical hacking, data vulnerability, the many faces of fraud, and how a ransomware attack typically unfolds. We also conducted an internal security culture assessment, and we continue to organise Piece of Cake, a cooperative game where the roles are reversed: our colleagues try their hand at social engineering to obtain sensitive information.

Piece of Cake teaches our colleagues, in a fun and interactive way, how important it is to protect personal and sensitive data from unauthorised access. No technical background required, just team spirit and a healthy dose of creativity.
