There have been 30 attacks since the launch of our Advanced DDoS Security service on 1 July. 13.3% of these were large-scale volumetric attacks that were blocked by our in-house scrubbing centres. The automated firewall filtered out suspicious traffic without impacting or disrupting the target of these attacks.
Increasingly complex and varied types of attack
Other, more complex types of attack can also be observed. As you can see from our infographic, 63.3% of these are session attacks. Although much less volumetric, this type of attack can still be detected and blocked by our solution.
From October onwards, a third type of attack combining session and application attacks was detected. These accounted for 23.3% of attacks.
Such attacks are less visible and directly attack the target's application weaknesses. For the latter, we are currently preparing a recommendation scheme which will be available soon.
Attacks on the rise every month
As you can see below, 70% of the attacks (21 in total) took place in October, a month in which our country was subjected to intensive DDoS attacks.
Some of these can last several days or be split over a longer period. This trend shows that the number of attacks is increasing over time.
Combine Advanced DDoS Security with our recommendations
If you haven't yet subscribed to this service, we advise you to take action now to avoid the risk of interruptions to your network. Since 1 July, 85 TB of malicious traffic have been blocked.
Advanced DDoS Security is the first step in proactively guarding against volumetric attacks.
To accompany this basic protection, a recommendation scheme prepared by our Security Team will soon be available. On a case-by-case basis, you can use these to ensure your protection is complete and able to cope with more complex attacks.
Protecting against application attacks
Advanced DDoS Security protects you against volumetric attacks. For application attacks, additional security equipment, combined with the Advanced DDoS Security service, is essential.
This additional equipment involves investment, but this represents only a small proportion of the financial damage that an attack can cause, not to mention damage to your reputation. We would be happy to help you take the necessary measures.
