Earlier this year we informed you about the new 'OCRE 2024' framework of GÉANT which is expected to be in place in February 2025 and to run for a period of 5 years. OCRE 2024 is just like its predecessor OCRE 2020 offering a wide portfolio of open Cloud solutions (IaaS, PaaS, Saas).
The OCRE framework agreements are designed to protect the interests of the R&E institutions by providing them with access to a variety of Cloud solutions from multiple vendors and service providers at discounted rates. Additionally, they simplify the procurement process for your organisation, eliminating the need for issuing an individual call for tenders. The pre-negotiated agreements already meet European and national legislation. Also federal and public institutions connected to Belnet can benefit from the advantages of the OCRE framework.
The OCRE 2020 framework ends on 30 November 2024. Organisations who would like to extend their contract or new institutions who would like a call off under the OCRE 2020 conditions need to do this before 30 November 2024. The maximum duration is 4 years. Note that Microsoft only gives the OCRE reductions till end 2025. More information about the OCRE 2020 framework agreement and its various benefits can be found here.
After 30 November 2024 no new call offs will be possible until the new OCRE 2024 framework is in place.
