As of February 3, 2025, the new OCRE 2024 framework agreement will go into effect. Belnet customers can cost-effectively purchase IaaS, PaaS and SaaS solutions thanks to this new framework without having to launch their own call for tenders.

OCRE is aimed primarily at R&E institutions, but federal and public institutions connected to Belnet and included in the GÉANT list can also enjoy numerous benefits when purchasing commercial cloud services.

  • Ready-made agreements that comply with European and national regulations
  • Discounts, ingress waiver, egress waiver on monthly usage (depending on supplier)
  • Local support and training
  • Secure data processing, GDPR compliant
  • Access to an online portal for reporting

The tender - with GÉANT acting as procurement hub for the pan-European R&E community - is divided into 39 lots, one per participating country, and subdivided into sublots for the different platforms. The table below shows the ranking of suppliers for each sublot. Institutions can award directly to all the suppliers ranked first (=cascade) or can opt to set up a (mini-)competition if, for example, in case of multiple suppliers they do not want to automatically deal with the highest ranked one.

Belnet will be hosting a webinar on Thursday, February 20, to present the participating providers by sublot and their respective offer as well as the principles of cascading and (mini-)competition.

Several vendors are organizing their own webinars and/or events to explain their offerings. For example, Inetum, which was awarded first place for Microsoft Azure services in Belgium, is organizing a face-to-face event at Technopolis Mechelen on March 19. Interested R&E, public and federal institutions can register via the following link: Unlocking the innovative potential of public cloud with Microsoft Azure.
