Belnet continues to expand its range of services to support research and higher education institutions in the sustainable management of their digital resources.

On October 21, the Belnet PID Service will officially go into production. Some of you already had the opportunity to discover the benefits of this new service during the presentation given by Sam Kauranne end September. Let’s take a closer look at its key features and the advantages it offers to research institutions and organisations.

The PID (Persistent Identifier) provided by Belnet enables institutions to ensure the durable, global and flexible identification of their digital research resources.

Each resource is assigned a unique, immutable and resolvable code that can also point to the associated metadata. Even if the resource or its metadata are modified, the PID guarantees reliable and persistent access over time.

As the Belgian node of the ePIC consortium, Belnet also offers the possibility to host PIDs on servers managed by Belnet within the consortium. This approach helps to control costs and simplifies implementation for participating institutions.

With the Belnet PID Service, you can simplify data management and strengthen the visibility and reliability of your research resources.
