Over the three days of the symposium, we were able to see that EOSC has made significant progress, but there's still a long way to go. There is a lot of interest in this project, and its importance cannot be overstated. It also became clear that Open Science is not limited to Europe, but there is work underway on every continent. So it was interesting to see how people are dealing with similar issues and questions all over the world.
The diversity of the participants enabled rich and stimulating discussions with a wide variety of experts and professionals from different fields. Each participant views EOSC from a different angle, which led to many interesting conversations.
This kind of gathering always gives our community a boost. Despite the EOSC's complexity, it's clear that everyone is driven by a common desire to move forward together. This is particularly encouraging, and reinforces our belief at Belnet that we can make significant progress by working closely together. In this context, the Belnet team attending the event had the opportunity to build new contacts, both internationally and with various Belgian players in the field of Open Science. These connections are key to strengthening our network and fostering successful collaboration with our various stakeholders.
Finally, the EOSC is not alone in its quest to advance Open Science. Collaborative synergies are emerging with organisations such as GÉANT and the National Research and Education Networks (NRENs), of which Belnet is a member. These partnerships will be essential in areas such as identity management, via the R&E Federation in particular, and networking, with the necessary national EOSC nodes being established.
Participating in the EOSC symposium reinforced Belnet's belief that our continued involvement in the EOSC project is a unique opportunity to contribute to a global project and make a significant impact on the scientific community.
