The Belgian EOSC Tripartite Event, held on 16 April 2024 at the Palace of the Academies in Brussels, was a key moment for the Belgian and European open science community. Organised as part of the Belgian Presidency of the European Union, this pioneering event provided an opportunity to exchange best practices in the fields of open science and open data.
The day began with a poster session presenting 41 projects, use cases and initiatives in the Belgian open science landscape, bringing together European and national stakeholders. Belnet, as Belgium's mandated organisation within the EOSC, had the opportunity to present its role around a poster and to exchange with the visitors.
The afternoon was marked by in-depth discussions on the importance of the European tripartite and the transition to the operational phase of the EOSC. Speakers highlighted the need for close communication between the different nodes, as well as the challenges and solutions for open access in Belgium, involving data managers and open access journals.
The open science landscape in Belgium was also examined, covering infrastructure, interdisciplinary working and the role of the EOSC. The event allowed participants to exchange views and experiences, consolidating Belgium's position as a leader in open science.
