First step in Belnet's new connectivity strategy successfully completed
A new dynamic procurement system that went into operation in June 2021 facilitates the search for the most suitable leased line to a gateway on the Belnet network. In addition, Belnet has launched a new framework agreement for WAN connectivity in order to connect and provide connectivity to the various federal sites as efficiently as possible.

New President for the Federal Science Policy
Since February, Arnaud Vajda has headed up the PPS Science Policy (Belspo), which also includes Belnet. He will play a key role in implementing the federal strategy for scientific research. His ambition is also to give greater visibility to the organisation's activities.

Belnet updates ScienceMAN ring
At the end of January, Belnet completed the update to the ScienceMAN network. Thanks to the new architecture, Federal Scientific Institutions (FSIs) can count on improved availability. To this end, an additional fibre and a third Point of Presence were commissioned.

Belnet now manages Orfeo, a repository for scientific publications
In 2016, the Federal Science Policy Office (Belspo) developed an open access repository for scientific publications resulting from research projects they funded. At Belspo's request, Belnet recently optimised the tool and migrated it to the Belnet infrastructure.
