Workshop: Training course cyber crisis exercises

Workshop

Date

Thu, 14/11/2024 - 09:00
Belnet, WTC III

A cyber crisis can have a major impact on your organisation's business continuity and reputation. It is important not only to focus on preventive measures, but also to prepare for a potential cyber crisis.

Organisations that conduct exercises on a regular basis are better able to manage a potential cyber crisis and mitigate its consequences faster. They are also better prepared to adequately communicate with their stakeholders (employees, media, authorities, etc.) during a crisis.

Belnet and the Centre for Cybersecurity (CCB) are organising a training programme for hospitals and Federal Scientific Institutions (FSI) to learn them how to set up and organise a cyber crisis exercise in their organisation.

Practical information

The training course consists of 3 workshops and a debriefing. Participation in the course is completely free of charge. However, we do expect active participation and commitment as well as a commitment to conduct an individual tabletop exercise in your organisation during the exercise weeks.

All sessions take place on-site at Belnet, online participation is not possible.

The agenda is as follows:

  • 14/11/2024: Workshop on the basics of crisis management and crisis communication, including a tabletop exercise (full day)
  • 19/11/2024: Workshop on elaborating and supervising a tabletop exercise (full day)
  • 21/01/2025: Workshop on observing and evaluating a tabletop exercise (half-day)
  • March 2025: Exercise weeks
  • April 2025: Debriefing (half-day)

What can you expect?

The following will be organised by Belnet:

  • Three workshops on crisis management, organising, supervising and evaluating tabletop exercises
  • A guide with tips and recommendations on how to further develop your tabletop exercise
  • An individual consultation session where you will receive advice from an expert in crisis management
  • A debriefing to share lessons learned and exchange experiences with other participating organisations

What do you need to arrange yourself?

  • Appointing an exercise leader and an observer: read the additional information document (NL version / FR version) carefully prior to your registration
  • Defining your exercise objectives and adapting the central scenario to the context of your own organisation
  • The practical organisation of the exercise in your organisation (reserving a room, blocking the agenda of participants, ...)
  • Leading, observing and evaluating the exercise within your own organisation
