On Tuesday, June 18, Belnet organized the FedWAN Day for the second time. About a dozen federal government agencies signed on present to get an update on the FedWAN project that started last year.

Attendees received presentations from project management on the scope and status of the project: which WANs have already been implemented, which are currently in the implementation phase and which are still in the planning stages.

Furthermore, Network Engineer Tom de Clercq gave a technical update on the different products covered by the Telenet framework agreement and lessons learned were shared in order to optimize the definition, installation and migration of future WANs.

Yves Baert (Head of IT Service Management) further explained the functioning of the Belnet Service Desk and the contact procedure in case of problems.

The financial part of the project was explained by Dirk Osstyn (Head of Business & Community). The participants learned how the allocation is used and which savings can be realized thanks to the project.

Finally, Frédéric Libotte (Teamlead FED & BNIX) advocated a merger of the 2 governance groups FedMAN and FedWAN.

Belnet was satisfied with the numerous interactions of the participants and the participants themselves appreciated the format and the networking opportunities.

"I liked the format: many topics within a good time frame. The explanation of strategy and organization was relevant and clear."

Bertrand Dockier, Operations Manager FOD Economie

"It was refreshing to meet peers for networking.”

Koen Patoor, Telecom Manager FOD Justitie
