Communications Officer @ Belnet

Since February, Arnaud Vajda has headed up the PPS Science Policy (Belspo), which also includes Belnet. He will play a key role in implementing the federal strategy for scientific research. His ambition is also to give greater visibility to the organisation's activities.

Arnaud Vajda was appointed by the Council of Ministers at the end of 2021 as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the PPS Science Policy and has been in post since February 2022.

In addition to the central administration and Belnet, 10 Federal Scientific Institutions (FSI) are also part of Belspo. In total, the Federal Science Policy Office has about 2,300 employees.

Recently, Arnaud Vajda gave some interviews following his appointment, in which he talked about the challenges for the coming period. In an interview with Daily Science, he mentioned: “In order to restore ties to the Belgian institutional landscape, we have to communicate. This requires good information about our activities and the services we can provide to other federal departments (...) My ambition is to give the department a new dynamism and long-term visibility.”

Belnet supports this approach and will proactively work to help achieve this goal. Among other things, in the context of open science, Belnet plays an important role for Belspo and the FSI, scientific research being one of their core activities.

The FSI have conserved, studied and promoted an exceptional scientific, artistic and historical heritage for more than two centuries.
